J. Toby Gray, CEO
J. Toby Gray brings hands-on healthcare industry experience to the company, along with strong entrepreneurship skills and specialized management expertise. Toby was the Founder, former Chairman and CEO of Surgical Assist, Inc., which he formed in 2001 and grew to be one of the nation’s leading providers of surgical assistant services. He merged that company to become SpecialtyCare Surgical Assist in 2009. While working as a physician assistant at Holy Cross Hospital, he founded Surgical Assist after recognizing a need for well-trained, experienced, quality surgical assistants who could provide continuity of staff for surgeons in the OR. Through Surgical Assist, Toby provided highly-trained surgical assistants to more than 50 healthcare facilities and over 250 surgeons on a 24/7 365 basis. He personally first assisted in over 8,000 surgical cases. Toby began his healthcare career in 1991, spending his first 8 years in sports medicine, working with the University of Florida, the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Marlins. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Florida and then went on to the Physician Assistant program at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Greg Flanagan, Chief Operating Officer
Greg is a senior-level executive with 25 years of information technology and healthcare operations experience. He has worked in a wide range of healthcare provider organizations and healthcare information technology companies. Most recently, Greg was Chief Information Officer for Coordinated Health, a Pennsylvania-based specialty hospital network. Greg has extensive background with hospitals and healthcare services companies. He has served in a number a senior management roles, including CIO and COO. In addition, he has several years of consulting experience working with clients on large-scale technology programs and projects. His business experience includes working with organizations – from start-ups to companies with multi-billions in revenue – with various ownership models including private-equity, venture-capital, private not-for-profit and publicly-traded. Greg graduated from Duke University with a Masters in Hospital Administration and a BA in Economics.
